Artisan Candles Inspired by a Sense of Place

Autumn Laurel & Co.® creates artisan candles hand-poured in small batches in Virginia. Our fragrances are rooted in a sense of place, drawing inspiration from Appalachian landscapes, Blue Ridge seasons, regional stories, old kitchens, wild berries, mountain herbs, folklore, and the ordinary moments that make a place feel like home.

For us, artisan candle making is more than pouring wax into a vessel. Each fragrance begins with an idea, memory, landscape, tradition, or atmosphere and is developed to tell that story through scent. We use a premium apricot-coconut wax blend and thoughtfully developed fragrance combinations to create candles with character and a distinctly Autumn Laurel point of view.

What are artisan candles?

Artisan candles are candles made with an emphasis on craft, intentional fragrance design, materials, and small-scale production rather than anonymous mass production. The term can describe many styles of candle making, but at Autumn Laurel & Co.®, it means developing fragrances around a specific story or sense of place and hand-pouring them in small batches in Virginia.

What does small-batch candle making mean?

Small-batch production means our candles are poured in intentionally sized batches rather than manufactured on a mass-production line. It allows us to stay close to the making process while offering a changing fragrance library shaped by landscapes, seasons, traditions, and stories.

Are Autumn Laurel candles made in America?

Yes. Autumn Laurel & Co.® candles are handcrafted and hand-poured in Virginia. Our identity is especially rooted in Appalachia and the Blue Ridge Mountains, where many of our fragrance stories begin.

What makes Autumn Laurel artisan candles different?

Our approach is built around a sense of place through scent. Rather than simply choosing a familiar fragrance and giving it a regional name, we develop scents around the atmosphere, memory, landscape, food tradition, folklore, or season we want the fragrance to evoke.

Where are Autumn Laurel candles made?

Our candles are hand-poured in small batches in Virginia. That Virginia and Appalachian setting is not simply where we make them; it is part of how we think about fragrance, storytelling, season, and place.
